My spaceball has that.

A software toggle that allows you to turn off the lights and leave them off.

This works well until I get a "Sleepmode" or similar shutdown and then I have to go into driver software turn them on (despite being on already) and turn them off AGAIN!

Meanwhile I've got irritating bright blue lights on my desktop that give me headaches or just make me aggressive.

Same issues with "Bluetooth" indicator lights on everything from SatNav (no "off" option) and Dell laptop (hard to find "off" option).

I'm just waiting until cool red or amber LEDs make a come back.
