iPhone in hand

POP3 is enabled on the server and forwarded through the firewall, but for some reason, the iPhone would not connect directly to the server. No problem connecting from the outside world via POP3 with Thunderbird and Gmail.

I was then able to connect Gmail to the server and then the iPhone to Gmail.

Sloppy workaround, I know, but it seems that the iPhone wants to default to IMAP when it detects an Exchange Server, and for now opening up a port on the firewall for IMAP is out of the question.

Much like Versamail for Palm, I am sure someone will come out with a translator for the IPhone to connect to an exchange server. Until then, either sync with your PC, Mac, and there is always OWA. VPN with OWA and a bluetooth keyboard in horizontal on the IPhone. Just need to wait a generation or two for the network speed to get better on AT&T. Still don't understand why you cant get them insured.

Considering 90% of the world uses windows, I believe he was catering to the majority.
