My 10 favorite apps are all running at once

\n\tThe RIM BlackBerry PlayBook has been out for one week and there are now over 1,700 apps in the BlackBerry App World software store. While many of the big names are still missing there are plenty of apps to keep you occupied.

    \n

\n\tCheck out my ZDNet Mobile Gadgeteer post for the list of my top 10 and some other thoughts on the device after a week.

  • #1: Default PlayBook web browser

\n\tThe web browser is fantastic and this app alone makes up for the lack of several other applications.

  • #2: Kobo Ebook reader

\n\tI love reading ebooks on my devices and the Kobo Ebook app is a solid reader. Unfortunately, I cannot figure out how to get it to read my other EPUB documents at this time.

  • #3: Need For Speed Undercover

\n\tNeed For Speed (NFS) Undercover was preloaded on the device and is a blast to play on the PlayBook.

  • #4: Slacker Radio

\n\tSlacker is an excellent streaming radio application that was also included on the PlayBook out of the box.

  • #5: Music player

\n\tThe integrated music player is a solid application, made even better with rocking stereo speakers on the PlayBook.

  • #6: Glimpse RSS reader

\n\tGlimpse is a slick RSS reader that lets you view your RSS feeds in a cool interface.

  • #7: Reader's Digest

\n\tI used to subscribe to and read Reader Digest religously and am enjoying it in portrait mode on the PlayBook.

  • #8: Poynt

\n\tPoynt is a location-based application that gives you quick access to local movies, restaurants, gas stations, and weather with search options for people and businesses.

  • #9: Rocket Storm

\n\tI was a big fan of Missile Command as a kid and this game is similar with beautiful graphics. There is a bug where the banner stays on the screen too long when a round starts, but it is available for free.

  • #10: DoodleBlast

\n\tIn this fun game you have to strategize about where you will draw lines to have all of the marbles fall into the jar when the line holding them back is erased.
