The Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G and Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G share the same 6.83-inch display and basic rear-camera setup, but the Pro Max adds upgrades to battery capacity, charging speed, processor, memory, storage, front camera, and video recording.
Pricing varies by country because Xiaomi does not set one global MSRP for the two phones. For comparable 8GB/256GB configurations, the Pro and Pro Max are priced at RM1,599 and RM1,999 in Malaysia and S$599 and S$749 in Singapore. In Australia, the 256GB models carry RRPs of A$699 and A$799, respectively.
Xiaomi confirms those RRPs through its official launch and sale pages for Malaysia, Singapore, and Australia. Promotions can lower those prices, while available RAM and storage configurations also differ by country.

Where the Pro Max upgrades the hardware
According to Xiaomi’s specifications, the Redmi Note 17 Pro uses the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 with LPDDR4X memory. The Pro Max moves to the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and LPDDR5X, while its 256GB and 512GB versions step up from UFS 3.1 to UFS 4.1 storage.
Both phones run Xiaomi HyperOS 3 and use a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a refresh rate up to 120Hz and Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
The Pro Max adds a 2,000-nit high-brightness mode along with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Xiaomi rates both displays at up to 3,500 nits under its UHBM measurement.
Camera hardware is closer. Both models have a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization and an 8MP ultrawide. The Pro Max uses a wider f/1.5 main-camera aperture compared with f/1.8 on the Pro.
Video provides a clearer difference. The standard Pro tops out at 1080p recording at 30 fps, while the Pro Max specifications list 4K recording at 30 fps. Its front camera also rises from 16MP to 32MP.
Battery size changes across markets
Battery is the biggest Pro Max upgrade. The Pro uses an 8,340mAh silicon-carbon battery with 67W HyperCharge and up to 22.5W wired reverse charging.
Xiaomi’s global Pro Max listing raises that to 10,000mAh with 100W HyperCharge and up to 27W reverse charging. The company claims up to three days of mixed use for that version under its own testing conditions.
The 10,000mAh capacity is not universal. Xiaomi sells the Pro Max with a 9,210mAh battery in Australia and Taiwan while retaining 100W charging. Android Central also tested a 9,210mAh version and reported more than two and a half days of medium use before recharging.
Ingress protection can vary by region as well. Xiaomi’s global listings specify IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K protection, while regional versions such as the Australian and Taiwanese Pro Max list a narrower set of ratings. Charger inclusion, network support, memory configurations, and other details can likewise differ between markets, a common complication with Android phones sold internationally.
India remains less certain. Redmi has teased a new “Max” Note phone there but has not officially confirmed the Note 17 Pro Max name or a launch date. A Mint report citing tipster Yogesh Brar points to a possible September 15 launch with a 10,000mAh battery and 100W charging.
For buyers choosing between models already available locally, the standard Pro keeps the same screen size and similar rear cameras for less. The Pro Max adds faster performance and storage, quicker charging, 4K video, a higher-resolution front camera, and a larger battery in most configurations.
