Samsung is turning its health-tracking app into a more active wellness companion, giving eligible older Americans access to free AI coaching designed to help prevent diabetes.

Samsung Electronics America announced a partnership with Lark Health that will bring AI-powered prevention and chronic-care support to Samsung Health users aged 65 and older in the United States.

The initial offering is Lark’s Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program (MDPP), which provides round-the-clock AI coaching and smartphone-based health tracking. Eligible participants also receive clinical resources and tools, including a cellular-connected scale.

Users must meet Medicare’s eligibility requirements, including enrollment in Medicare Part B and having no active diabetes diagnosis. Seniors who do not qualify for MDPP may instead be offered Lark Prevention, a separate one-year program valued at $249 annually. Samsung says it will be available at no additional out-of-pocket cost to eligible users.

Lark’s coaching covers nutrition, physical activity, sleep and stress management, using personalized guidance and interactive lessons to encourage healthier routines. The company says its programs have helped 2.5 million patients adopt healthier daily choices.

Chronic care could expand beyond diabetes

The initial launch is part of a planned expansion tied to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Innovation Center’s Advancing Chronic Care with Effective, Scalable Solutions (ACCESS) Model.

Through the initiative, eligible Samsung Health users may eventually gain access to additional Lark programs covering cardiometabolic and behavioral health conditions. Those services are expected to combine AI coaching with clinical oversight, health tracking and other medical resources.

Samsung has not announced specific launch dates for the programs or provided a detailed timeline for the wider rollout. The partnership comes as diabetes remains a major health concern in the United States.

Samsung cited estimates that 38.4 million Americans live with diabetes, with roughly one-third of adults aged 65 and older affected.

Samsung’s bigger bet on everyday health

The partnership gives Samsung Health a role beyond collecting activity, sleep and other wellness data. By connecting users with structured prevention programs, Samsung is trying to turn device-collected information into practical support for managing long-term health risks.

That approach could also help digital health services reach older adults through a familiar smartphone app rather than requiring them to discover a separate coaching platform.

However, AI coaching is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment. Its usefulness will depend on users’ eligibility, access to a compatible smartphone and reliable internet connectivity, as well as their ability to follow the guidance. Clinical resources remain an important part of the offering.

What older Samsung Health users should know

Samsung’s partnership with Lark could make structured diabetes prevention support more accessible to eligible older adults, particularly those already using Samsung Health to monitor their daily activity and wellness.

For eligible seniors, the partnership could reduce the cost and effort involved in accessing structured diabetes prevention support. Those who do not qualify for Medicare’s program may still have another route through Lark Prevention, although availability depends on program eligibility.

However, users should confirm their eligibility before assuming they can enroll. Participation in the Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program depends on specific medical and coverage requirements, while access to Lark Prevention is also subject to qualification criteria.

Samsung has not provided a complete rollout schedule, so interested users should watch for official enrollment details and confirm whether their devices support the service. AI coaching can complement preventive care, but it should not replace medical advice from a qualified healthcare professional.

The partnership reflects Samsung’s effort to move beyond passive health tracking toward more personalized support, but its impact will depend on how widely the programs become available and whether users benefit over time.
