Override Outlook’s default printing format

Earlier in the week, I showed you how to change Outlook’s default message format, and that prompted Sandy.rob to ask how to reset the default printing style. As colleage Jon Tydda showed me, the solution is simple:

1. In the Inbox, choose Page Setup from the File menu.
2. Select Define Print Styles from the resulting submenu.
3. In the Define Print Styles dialog box, choose the style you want for the default. Keep in mind that the printing default depends on the particular window you’re in — it will be different for messages, calendars, tasks, and so on.

4. Click Close

When you open the Print dialog box (from the File menu), the new style should be listed in the Print Style dialog box.

Unfortunately, I’ve learned over the last few days that the setting doesn’t always take… and so folks, we have a mystery on our hands. It doesn’t stick for me and a few others I’ve consulted. However, a larger group says it sticks for them. Since this isn’t something that only I’m experiencing, there does seem to be something afoot. A quick review of Microsoft’s Knowledge Base turned up nothing, but perhaps I’m just not using the right keywords.
