2014 error and WS_E_Communictions Proble

I am unsure if this Question is geared with exchange or NT. I am getting an error when starting Exchange the error is 2014 however when I go into Exchange I am getting a WS_E_COMMUNICATIONS PROBLEM. I am unsure what happened however I did install/format a 12GB HD to NTFS on the server two days ago. Help! Ryan
