Acer Asprie One netbook doesn’t recognize USB card reader

Running XP Home:
Web Cam works
Three usb ports exist but when I plug in Lexar card reader it doesn’t work. I tried another reader –same result. Both readers work on my desktop.

Any help would be appreciated.
