Activate Windows 7 Professional

Ok– what im wondering is i have a windows 7 professional 64-bit PC that needs a product key can i buy a windows anytime upgrade key and use that key to activate windows 7 64-bit with out doing the actual upgrade? And can a 32-bit license key for windows 7 professional work on a 64-bit machine that has windows 7 professional?
