Active Directory is slow to respond

I was wondering if anyone can help me with a problem with AD in a windows 2000 network that I’ve been experiencing lately. The problem is that when I’m in Active Directory Users and Computer or Site Services the OU’s respond very slowly. Right clicking on them and hitting properties takes more than a minute to respond at times. Any suggestions are welcomed.

tks
