Active Directory

I am supporting a financial organization that comprises of 4 individual companies. They have a single domain structure (Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise) setup and everyone is not on it. Would it be appropriate to set up a forest structure (multiple domains) composed of 4 domains representing each company for this scenario?
