Anyone find nice tools for agile business computing without techniques?

Since excel is great for statistics and data computing, many people who doesn’t know much techniques use it for data statistics. But Excel also has many drawbacks, for complex computing, like filtering, sort, group data etc., excel seems helpless. Say, to sort on the grouped data in excel, there are many errors occured and when there are too many groups, it needs much time to do it manually.
