app store no longer works after macOS Catalina

Ever since the update from macOS Catalina, Safari is extremely slow and the app store no longer wants to work. The app store will open, but it remains a white screen and won’t load. I am up to date with the latest version of macOS hoping it would’ve corrected the problem, but unfortunately, it didn’t. Has anyone else had this problem and were able to find a fix?
