Application Log Overflowing…

by skivtmp . Updated 22 years ago

I currently am an assistant administrator for two Windows 2000 servers and about 50 client machines. The domain controller (named server2) is generating over 28,000 error messages a day in the application log. It is causing system slow downs, e-mail server crashes, etc.

The common error seem to be only second apart. They are as follows:

rundll, Information, None, 0, N/A, SERVER2, The FireDaemon process was started.
rundll, Error, None, 107, N/A, SERVER2, Subprocess monitoring failed due to subprocess is no longer active. The subprocess is probably dead. Restarting the process. Error code: 997.
rundll, Error, None, 100, N/A, SERVER2, The service failed to shutdown correctly due to subprocess being unable to be killed. Error code: 5.

There are also some srvmon error messages appearing. Any ideas as to what could be wrong? How to fix it?
