I’m running about 15-G4’s (new & old) 9.2.2,
1-imac 9.1, 1-7500 8.6, 1-G3 server 9.22.
Have 3 Cisco catalyst 3500 series XL
switches running through 3 floors in a high
rise. I’ m on a VLAN going through a Xylon,
ESM module to separate macsfrom the PC
network. Everything on the mac side is totally
up to date. When I run backups at night using
Retrospect I get network communication
errors on folders larger than 200 MB. It will
start to backup (for instance) a 10GB folder but
only copy less than 200 files out of (let’s say)
1100. However I can run complete backups
during the day while the users are working. I
am currently running a server backup script to
repoll what i didn’t get the first time around this
work around is ok but it takes too long. I have
nothing going to sleep and TCP/IP is always
open, I have defragged the nodes and tried
various connections, disconnecting the VLAN
at night,as well as a different backup node.
Also the network speed changes almost daily.
All nodes and switches have UPS. What could
be causing this?
Please help!!!
