I would like to offer my clients a service which takes their backup tape, and does a simulated restore on a system in my lab. I would then provide a report on the viability of their backup, and its ability to actually do a restore of their O/S, userdatabase, and critical data.Since I have a varied client base which uses both Novell (from 3.12 to 5.1) and NT (4.0 and 2000), I am trying to determine my minimum equipment to be able to accomodate any client. Obviously, I need all the necessary formats of tape drives, but I am trying to determine if I would actually need the exact server model, NIC’s etc. loaded in order to come up with a meaningful restore. Any opinions would be appreciated.
