Best Practices for Tracking User Engagement on Interactive Web Content

by 12alicemia . Updated 4 months, 2 weeks ago

Hi everyone,

I am working on an interactive web experience where user actions matter more than page views. Instead of static content, users click, retry tasks, and complete small flows.

I’d like to know:

What’s the best way to track meaningful interactions (clicks, attempts, completions)?

Are GA4 events usually enough, or is custom tracking a better option?

Do tools like heatmaps or session replays actually add value?

I am mainly interested in practical, real world approaches and lessons learned.
Looking forward to your thoughts.

Thanks!
