Betrieve error 3112

Installed Pervasive 2000 on Windows 2003 server and client on Windows XP workstations. Recieving Betrieve error 3112 at the client level. Looking for input as to a cause and or remedy. Is there a service pack needed? Or a complete upgrade? A setting change??
