Big Shoes to Fill

by mylittleopihi . Updated 14 years, 11 months ago

I was recently given the responsibility of managing our company’s new IT projects. I’m in charge of two programmers and a designer who are tasked with different projects that involve the same database.

Problem is .. I have a journalism degree, and about two year’s of web management experience. I’m not an IT manager, but I can code HTML and grasp basic programming concepts.

How can I educate myself so that I can do the job my bosses are asking me to do? What primary actions should I take to establish my role with the programmers and designers?

By the way, only one of the programmers is bothered with my being given this role. The fact is, we don’t have the money or personnel to give the role to someone else. So I’m it.

Any advice you can give me is appreciated.
