Bit Defender and IE

On a colleagues XP notebook whenever i connect to the internet using the dial up connection Bit Defender Blocks Internet Explorer. I thought it must have been a setting in IE but when the firewall was disabled i was allowed access. The thing is when the machine is connected to the work internet over the LAN it works perfectly
