Bit Map Disk Caching

The president of our company uses vpn to log in from home to his office desktop. The vpn works fine, however when he tries to log into his desktop the login times out the first time. He tries again and it goes through immediately. He then gets a Bit Map Disk Caching error. he reponds with ok and can continue working. Can you tell me what causes this error?
