Bootable Disc with write permission?

i use alot of bootable discs and i found that i could carry all of them on one usb drive. The only problem now is that when i use the live version i no longer have write access to the usb drive that is being accessed. Is there any way to enable the write access so that i could boot the usb and save to it as well?
