browser problems

I have developed a site using IE but when I test it on netscape 7 it explodes/goes horribly wrong! I have been informed it is because I am using a CSS sheet with borders. Netscape takes the border pixels from outside a container and IE from inside. anyone know how to fix it so the site works in Netscape 7/mozilla?
