calling a jscript function from vbscript

How do you call a jscript function from vbscript? I keep receiving the following error from the browser: Error Type:
Microsoft VBScript runtime (0x800A000D)
Type mismatch: ‘sendAlert’
/wvdev/hirts/dev/visual/observations.asp, line 127
