Hi,
I have a W2K server and I have never setup CALs before.
However someone else has setup this server and has
already setup the CALs.
The only problem is they have setup the CALs incorrectly.
They have set the CALs purchased to 4000 and it currently
says there is 567 CALs allocated.
We only have around 200 computers accessing that server.
When I checked the CALs per seat statictics it showed
DOMAIN\Users displayed in there instead of the machine.
E.g. I have a 100 PCs named PC01, PC02 etc. Shouldn’t it
display each PC name instead of a list of users in the
domain.
Also it doesn’t release the names, it just adds and adds
them. So little timmy who logged in a year ago is still there.
I got told that it was a problem in W2K server and a service
pack fixed it. I have all the latest service packs.
I need to be told how to remove existing entries and setup
the W2K server to have 250 device cals that display the
computer name, not the user. The server is in per seat
mode not per server mode as we have 2 W2K servers.
I will finish in saying this has nothing to do with Terminal
Services and is only to do with CALs for clients accessing
the W2K server on the network.
Thankyou
