I have this question, for which i’ve tried hard to get at the begining. Word 2003 SP3 doesnot open Word 2.0.
Yep is not working, for me.
Situation:
A AMD DDS 512MB windows XP Pro SP2 computer with Genuine Office 2003 Basic edition no SP, every thing works OK. But we need some updates.
1. I’ve updated to SP3 and add also Office 2007 compatibility pack.
I’ve opened a customers old archive with Word 2.0 documents, and Word 2003 say a registry settings prevent from opening that document.
2. I’ searched on the net for a solution. The sure suggestion was to uninstall and install again. I’ve done that. Unistall, reeboot, Install Office 2003 basic and tray again. Guess what – it works like a charm.
3. Lets try again I’ve installed only Office 2003 SP3. and I was again in point 1. Word 2003 say a registry settings prevent from opening that document.
4. I have to use the onlx solution that I know is to repeat step 2. and leave it as it was before.
So my resume is. I’ve lost 2 times 2h to be where I’ve started at the begining with Office 2003 without service Pack.
Is there a workarround.
So can you open a Word 2.0 document in Office 2003 Word with SP3 installed? I can’t.
