Can you send an SMS text from phone to email

Hello all,
I’m wondering if it’s possible to send a text to an email address, but as SMS, NOT as MMS. I’m working on a program that can be sent input, but it can be problematic how slow MMS can sometimes be. SMS is so quick, and I’d love to be able to use that, but apps like Textra all seem to automatically use MMS. Is there a way around this?
