can you take a picture and text it without realizing it?

an unlikely scenario, i’m sure. i have a new samsung galaxy s3. i have only had a few weeks and am still figuring out all the bells and whistles. i was responding to a text and not paying attention. i was focused on something else. it was sunny and the screen had faded. i have apprently taken a picture and texted it during my conversation. is this possible? has anyone else ever done this?
