Cannot access the internet.

I am attempting to install a a wireless network.
When I am logged in as an asministrator I am able to connect to the internet through my wireless connection. However, when trying to connect to the internet as a user, the user is unable to connect to the internet and the access point icon is not displayed on the taskbar. Instead a network icon appears with an “X” indicating that there is no network connection. How can this situation be rectified?
