Cannot save Excel files on NT Server

How can we solve the problem of saving Execl files on NT. We can open a file and save it on local drive but not on the network drive.
NT workstation is on the local machine. We have seen an error in the Event Log “The redirector has timed out a request to “SERVER NAME””. Could this have anything to do with it?
