Canon printer error message

I have a Canon MX882 printer that has served me well. So far I’ve only had to replace the printhead. Lately it’s giving me this error message: The ink absorber is almost full. Press OK to continue printing. Contact the service center.
I’ve been pressing OK and it’s continuing to print but for how long? I tried blotting the ink absorber, and got a lot of ink out, but it still gives me the error message. I’m worried that it will stop working, and the service center isn’t going to do anything about this. Any ideas?
