Can’t save Word or Excel 2007 files – Windows 7

I have a workstation running Windows 7 64-bit with Office Basic 2007.

All of a sudden, 3 days ago, I am unable to “save” or “save as” any file. It doesn’t pop up with a window or anything and then when you try to close the application, it asks you if you want to save, if you click yes… once again, nothing happens.
