Checkboxes, hyperlinks, page number etc. problem in Word 2007

Word 2007 will not display insertions such as Check Boxes, Hyperlinks or Page numbers etc. properly. Instead what I get is code like:

{FORMCHECKBOX}
{PAGE \*MERGEFORMAT}
{HYPERLINK”http://www.domainname.com.au}

Same links/ documents opened in Word 2003 work fine but not in Word 2007.
