Can anyone please help?
I manage an infrastructure consisting of a LAN with 6 subnets and several WAN routers. The LAN devices consist of switches and hubs with an NT Server doing the routing!
I’ve just taken this position and the first thing I would like to do is replace the NT server router with some more appropriate device -but which one? I’d prefer a Cisco router as I know my way round the configs. Does anyone know of the most appropriate device?
More detail -I’ve been managing a Cisco 5500 configured for VPNs until recently, but am told that technology has moved on again since then. I not sure we need to configure VPNs anyway and the switches aren’t all Cisco, there’s a variety, mainly 3Com. If possible, I’d like to also plugthe main servers directly into the router/device for speed. Cost is an issue (as always), but as long as it can be justified…
