Clash of AntiVirus programs

Hi,

I recently uninstalled my NAV2002 and trying to reinstall it again only to found that I couldn’t use the software anymore due to expired service period.

I never found this problem previously, so I get a new NAV2003 to install into my system, however the installation get error message during installation of Norton Utilities 2003 so I cancel the setup. After cancelled the setup it seems that NAV keeps on monitoring my system eventhough I’ve uninstalled the whole Norton Systemworks.

I try to install a new AV, avast!, but it can’t activate the on-screen monitoring, due to NAV is being active eventhough it’s not there anymore.

Anyone please recommend me steps to be taken to solve this problem? I really doesn’t want to reformat my laptop, too much hassle inclusive.
