Closing Excel with Windows Scheduler

I have set up a VB macro on an excel spread sheet that will update the sheet, create a web page and then save and close the worksheet automatically. I give it a couple of minutes after the save/close and then I tell the scheduler to end excel but I get an error telling me to expand the wait time. I have done that but I get the same error on expanded values.
