Compaq Presario CQ62 will not charge when the power is on?

Hey guys,

I’ve tried absolutely everything.. My charger works fine in charging the battery when my laptop is off (you can see the orange led light charging) but as soon as I turn the laptop on (can only turn it on when the AC is connected btw) the orange led “charging” light turns off and the laptop stays on for a few seconds before powering off again.. It seems everytime I turn the laptop on it short circuits the battery or something. Sometimes when the laptop is on the led light will turn on for a few seconds and then turn back off as if it keeps losing connection, as I said earlier.. The led light stays completely on and charging when the laptop is turned off. Please help.
