A few days ago things started disapering from c:\windows\system32 (sndvol32.exe, calc.exe)
I dont know what did it, but i copied the two over from c:\windows\system32\dllcache to c:\windows\system32, which worked for those two programs.
Today it happened with mspaint.exe (i didnt copy anything over yet for that)
also, the shortcut in my start menu to windows media player is gone, and the button on my keyboard to open it no longer works.
My first thought was that it was the ‘kama sutra’ virus, but a couple virus scans provided no evidence of a virus.
I ran a couple spyware scans also, with the same results.
I’m using trend micro office scan, and MS anti spyware beta.
recently i rolled back from IE7 to IE6 (but i dont think that would cause any problems like this) any ideas?

oh, ps: i havent rebooted in a few days, and we all know how windows gets without being rebooted. im going to try that and cross my fingers (but i doubt it’ll do anything) :p
