CompTIA Security+ and CCNA certifications as starters

by nuno.vieira . Updated 12 years, 11 months ago

Dear IT colleagues,

During the next year-and-so, I’m planning to get both CompTIA Security+ and CCNA certifications for a little change in my IT career. I’m looking for the more InfoSec/Networking/Cyber Security activity. For starters, I think both certifications can actually complement one another.

For the last 13 years, I’ve been doing IT Support/Troubleshooting and as you know, this involves a lot of desktop/laptop support, quite a relevant support of LAN’s, software, AD, Exchange, Lotus Notes, smartphones, etc.

With my experience, maybe I should be following a more SysAdmin path but to tell you the truth, I’m not really interested.

The CompTIA Security+ is on the way and when it’s done, CCNA will follow.
So the question is, what do you think about it?

Any remarks and opinions are welcomed.
Thanks
Nuno
