Connecting Linksys RE6300 Extender with Linksys router

I want to connect a Linksys RE6300 network extender to my Linksys router on my home network. I reset the extender and it’s plugged into the wall outlet and I got it to get an IP from my router’s DHCP service, I can see the extender in the router DHCP table. But when I put the extender upstairs and I have a CAT5 cable run to it from the home network, extender setup as an Access Point, I am not getting any wifi signal off the extender when I’m 5 feet from it. What else needs to be setup in the extender to get it to work?
