Connecting to Internet

This one has me beat but sure it is simple really.

Using Firefox the computer connects to my broadband ISP fine

However IE8 (and same with IE7) refuses to dial up the connection. Same with MailWasher which always used to connect fine but now also refuses to dop anything. I don’t even get the dial up box

As far as I can tell nothing as changed recently.

Any ideas?
