Copying from External DVD is stopping – Win8.1

Anyone know why copying files from my external optical drive keeps stopping? (win8.1)
Windows keeps popping up saying “Action Interrupted”. I’ve also tried to play an mp3 from the dvd to keep the drive active, but that hasn’t helped.

You’d think it would be power saving mode, but I have looked all through it and not found a setting that fixes this yet.

I’m on an Acer Aspire V Windows 8.1
and the drive is a Samsung SE-208GB

Ah! Followed this article and ran the ps script, and that helps the drive keep spinning, and appears to solve the issue for me
