Could a Perpetual Magnet Motor run an Induction Generator?

It seems to me that the motion created by a Perpetual Magnet Motor is much the same as a wind turbine. Therefore, couldn’t a similar setup as found inside a wind turbine, also be used but with a perpetual magnet motor instead of blades?

I have a feeling this idea has come up before but must have been shot down. What are the reasons this type of turbine/generator would not be feasible?
