I’ve read everything I can on this site and others trying to figure out why I have one computer that bumps the CPU usage up to 100% and essentially causes the computer to hang indefinitely. Using task manager I know the 2 programs that always cause it to happen–Windows Media Player and Internet Explorer. We are working around the IE problem by using Mozilla Firefox although there are programs that apparently use IE that can’t be used because it runs the CPU to 100%.
My son got a new Sansa MP3 player and I was trying to install the Real Player that comes with it and it caused the CPU to race to 100% so I closed it down and I’m here begging for help.
Could it just be the CPU going bad? No one has suggested that as far as I can see.
