DBase III security problem.

i dun have DBase installed in my computer, therefore i have to used Access link table feature to update some DBase data. i managed to link the tables in but i can’t update/add new. the DBase files are stored in my local drive, i’m sure no other application is using it except my Access 2000. may i know the reason why i can’t do any updating to those link tables?
