Dell D830 BIOS problem

I’m working on my friend’s dell d830 and when trying to update the bios, found that the system info incorrectly shows it as a precision m4300 with a completely different service tag number. Not sure how this got changed, but I have replaced the HD due to a virus and the inability to reload windows XP on it. Any suggestions on how to correct this?
