Dell Inspiron 15R w/AMD video card 550. The dvd isn’t recognized.

I have tried to trouble shoot and got the message that the driver is corrupted. when I try to search for the latest driver to download the response is that the latest driver is already installed. I guess either the driver is corrupted and I can’t download or the dvd player is bad. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to proceed? Thanks
