Determining Upgrades and Documenting sys

My boss has recently asked me to develop a form that gathers information regarding our computers throughout the facility.

The reason is to look for upgrade needs or to switch computers where one may be better for a user.

I plan to ask basic questions like:
What platform, Ram and CPU speed?

Can you please give me some suggestions as to what information is good for determining upgrade needs and deciding if computers can be “switched” around due to needs? Are there some resources on the Web I can consult?
