Developer technical interviews.

Can anyone suggest a PC based Developers test for use in judging a prospective new hire’s technical proficiency. We are a VB, ACCESS 97/2000 shop. Currently we are using a verbal test and I’ve gotten feedback that some candidates are having a problem understanding the interviewer. We are in NYC and work with many nationalities, therefore I think a PC based test will be more fair..
