I am running Netware 5 in a public high school with about 100
workstations attached by way of TCP/IP and IPX. I recently began the
process of converting to DHCP from a system of static IP’s. My network
is segmented into three subnets (subnet 1,subnet 2, subnet 3,), each
subnet has been defined and IP’s assigned. The file/DHCP server’s IP is
within subnet 3. The big problem I’ve run into is that the only pc’s
that will release their static IP and pick up a dynamic assignment are
those pc’s on the SAME subnet as the file /DHCP server. The pc’s in the
other two subnets will give an error message stating the they cannot
obtain a valid IP from the server. All subnets have been set up to
recognize the DHCP server by name in the DHCP Console Mgr. I am running
only one NIC for all three subnets. What am I missing here…what
should I be doing to get all pc’s to obtain IP assignments?
